Earth Day Bonus

Look at the lovely we discovered by the mailbox today. Isn't it gorgeous? It has a twin in the square side bed too. Now I know what that was.
In the same bed -These look to me both like innocent children looking up at me, and fried-eggs-over-easy art for your lawn. The petals are so white that they are hard to photograph with detail in bright sun.

Check out the corner street side bed. We got the mulch down this weekend and while I was out there by myself making the mulch go to exactly the right places, I had several strangers stop their cars and tell me how much they enjoyed passing by it every day. That felt good.Far fewer flowers came up than bulbs planted, but not bad for our first time, eh?

Cherry Plum tree started shedding its petals almost as soon as it came to full bloom. We had fun sitting in the petal blizzard. Matt actually caught one on his tongue like snow. It was funny. Now there are pretty purplish-marroon leaves sprouting out.And I moved some seedlings outdoors. Yesterday I took them out after their indoor lighting was done and let them spend the afternoon in real sunshine. To be nice though, I covered them with a sheet overnight so they wouldn't freak out. Today they got all day sun and are still out there tonight, but they had to go sheetless. Gotta toughen up.I'll try to give you a seedling update tomorrow. It's really more like an elementary school than infants in that nursery of a master bath. Sheesh, I'll be glad to get that space back soon.

It's been very warm and oh so wonderful here lately. My arms are just slightly burned. I love it!

High: 77 Low: 53, mostly sunny; Lunar Phase: Waning Gibbous, 93% of full.

Oh, I love that striped tulip! And is that stone crop "sedum" I see lurking in the corner of your pics? I just planted some of that in my backyard!

We finally managed to get our seeds planted as well - I haven't written a post about it yet though - need to.

We are trying the whole squarefoot gardening approach and trying to fit everything we want into 4x4 raised beds....I have a book that says it works so we shall see. :)

I am getting some sun too. I feel so much healthier when I get out and work in the sun. My seedlings aren't ready to move outside yet, I was late getting them planted.

Hi SuzyQ. Yes, that is an Autumn Joy Sedum. It's nice in the fall when you're not expecting big blooms like that.

Hi Vonlafin. I know what you mean. You can just feel the Vitamin D soaking right in, eh? heehee Lovin it!

Thanks for visiting ladies! -Jen :)
